“And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” (Deuteronomy 6:7 KJV

Biblical literacy is the foundation for the development of our gifts and talents. Learning more about God and holy living should be the desire of every believer. After obtaining greater knowledge, it is our duty to teach others about God in our homes, churches, and communities.
Proverbs 22:6 encourages us to, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Our communities depend on us to learn and teach others about God.

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

The greatest source of empowerment we can obtain is through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is through the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit that we gain proper insight into scripture and are subsequently able to properly apply God’s word to our lives. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we truly develop our God-given gifts and talents and become equipped to evangelize the world.

“Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.  Neglect not the gift that is in thee…”

(1 Timothy 4:13-14a)

God has invested gifts and talents in each of us. Identifying and developing those gifts and talents requires our attentiveness to His voice, as well as our humbleness and willingness to cultivate what He has placed in us.
It is vital that we earnestly seek the skills necessary to develop our gifts and talents, and this occurs through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Mastery of our gifts and talents requires consistent effort.
